International Rally of Queensland - event report

We were really please with our results in IRoQ. Third 2wd in the Queensland Rally Championship field - on both days - was a nice reward. With this being Justin's first serious rally in over 10 years, it was a case of feeling the way back in carefully. There is a lot of room to improve yet.

 

Special thanks needs to go to Mark Northage who arranged a tent for our car, set up the whole service site, helped throughout the servicing and with everything from loading the car to unpacking the gear. He also kept the team in order.

 

Marney Kucharski did an awesome job of navigating and also introduced us to some great people from the central coast area. Thanks for all the food, advice and assistance guys. Thanks Joe (Marney's other half) for his help too.

 

Jody Thompson not only prepared the car, but kept us in the event on Saturday night. Special thanks also to Daniel (who engineered part of our rear suspension repair).

 

The car was faultless other than a rear suspension issue (currently being addressed) and we owe thanks to Yorkie (Steve Berry) who built her. Yorkie must be afraid every time he hears the phone ring - its been Justin calling him a liiiiiiittle too often. Thanks for all your help Yorkie.

 

As a team, we are all looking forward to developing further. There is no substitute for driving miles and IRoQ was a great start.

 

With Mark Northage stepping in to the navigating role, we will have the advantage of years of brotherly trust, but it will still be a steep learning curve for Mark who only recently took up navigating. No shouting at each other boys :)

 

We look forward to seeing anyone who can make it down to the border ranges for the 1st and 2nd August (Kyongle and Woodenbong).
